From the very beginning, I have been guided by art’s formal principles: composition, balance, proportion, etc. —-exploring not only how to work successfully within this framework, but also how to subvert it. When successful, ‘to respect’ versus ‘to undermine’ creates a beautiful tension — a place where the dazzle of the visual collides with the chaos of the psychological.
